This vase is a replica of the one currently on display in the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia Museum in Palermo (Italy).
The original was discovered in Mazzara del Vallo (Sicily, Italy). Due to the fact that Islamic lusterware pottery was desired by all royal potters, this type of ceramic was exported all over Europe. The creator of this jug is a renowned artist who travelled to Palermo to observe and study the patterns and other aspects of this unique piece in order to make a replica. The attention is drawn to the texture of the white background and the amazing technical craftsmanship visible after 5 centuries.
