About
Based on another vase on display in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg (Russia). This replica is known as the Vaso del Salar, part of the Vases of the Alhambra collection. The original was made in the 13th century. It was found in Salar Church (Granada, Spain) and bought by the artist Mariano Fortuny in 1871. The making of this piece, highlights the gilt in the original jug, but only after searching for the correct balance in the balsam formula, which involved endless intervening factors such as the whitening formula, the heating point, thickness, texture, atmospheric humidity, reduction intensity and many more. All unavoidable factors in the development of this process.
