The Eternal Idol, reduction sculpture after the original masterpiece by Auguste Rodin, circa 1890-1893. The title, The Eternal Idol, is very much in the Symbolist vein explored by Rodin at this time. The sculpture depicts two lovers, man adoring and kissing, woman in ecstasy, created with the characteristic anatomy and style of Rodin’s famous artworks. The two figures of this statue came from design of The Gates of Hell. Circa 1890, Rodin combined them to form a new independent work, which was an instant success later reproduced in bronze and marble.
Our bonded marble sculpture is produced by combining white Carrara marble powder and resin as a binding material. This material is easily molded in order to achieve incredible details. The sculptures are finished by hand.
