About
Egyptian scribe sculpture, a pair. Bookend reproductions inspired by an original belonging to the cubic type of sculpture of the Middle Empire. The shape of the first examples were highly simplified, creating the impression of a cube. Over time, however, the shape of the body and the arms became more apparent, as you can see on this statue. A cartouche, inscribed with the name of Ramses, is engraved on the left arm. Most of the hieroglyphics engraved on the pillar and base have been unfortunately erased. This scribe was called Hor, Priest and Intendant of Ptah. The cubic form of this statue makes it perfect as a bookend for a shelf.
It arrives in a pair.
