Our Egyptian Sphinx Statue for sale is a reduction replica of an original of the Late Period, 30th Dynasty, reign of king Nectanebo I, (378-361 BC) or early Ptolemaic Period (305-246 BC), found in the Serapeum of Saqqara.
The sphinx is a creature with the body of a lion and a human head that appeared very early in the artworks of the Egyptian civilization. The most famous example remains next to the great pyramids of Giza. The sphinx combines the intelligence and authority of the king with the physical power of the lion, a creature protectors of Temples and surroundings. Egyptian sphinxes typically wore the nemes on the head (a royal wig made of cloth) and a beard to adorn the chin.
