The identity of this young woman, for many years unknown, has finally been identified as one of the lovers of Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan. This is Cecilia Gallerani, who followed Ginevra de' Benci when she was married. The young woman is portrayed with an ermine in her arms. The portrait was so retouched in later times that it came to be doubted of the involvement of Leonardo in the same one.
