Septimius Severus Bust reduction in bronze, inspired by the armoured bust of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus with paludamentum over the left shoulder, from Ostia, located at Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, Rome, Italy. Lucius Septimius Severus Augustus, 145 AD - 211 AD, was Roman emperor from 193 to 211 AD. Severus was born in Leptis Magna in the Roman province of Africa. As a young man he climbed the ladder through the customary succession of public offices during the reigns of Marcus Aurelius and Commodus. After the death of Pertinax in 193 AD, he seized power during the Year of the Five Emperors.
The stone socle of this bust can have veinings of different color and size which can alter the final appearance of the bust.
