      • Leonardo's Horse (also known as Gran Cavallo) is a sculpture that was commissioned of Leonardo da Vinci by Ludovico il Moro, but not completed. It was intended to be the largest equestrian statue in the world, a monument to the duke's father Francesco Sforza. Leonardo did extensive preparatory work for it but produced only a clay model, which was later destroyed.

In preparation for the work, Leonardo studied horses, and wrote a treatise on horse anatomy. Another treatise, titled Of Weight, included detailed plans for casting the statue, which would have been done in separate hollow pieces and featured iron braces for internal support.

Please note there can be slight differences between the color of the item you receive and the pictures on the website due to the handmade nature of the product. The important thing to note is that the patina is not a paint but a very thin conversion coat on the surface of the bronze.
