• Venus Italica Statue inspired by the celebrated marble sculpture commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte and created by Italian sculptor Antonio Canova (ca 1802). This artwork was to serve as replacement for the Venus de Medici, ancient Greek sculpture, which had been taken to the Louvre in 1802 by orders of Napoleon. After Napoleon's abdication the Venus de Medici had to be returned to Italy in 1815.
