Napoleon as Caesar, a bust, after the antique by Canova, 1804.
In 1802 Napoleon brought the finest Italian neoclassical sculptor, Antonio Canova, to Paris to do a series of portrait marble sculptures of Napoleon.
After Napoleon saw one of the pieces, a marble relief with him wearing a laurel crown, he commissioned this large version.
An example of this bust is display at Villa Melzi in Italy.
As a standard these large busts are made much lighter, if you require more weight, please inform at time of ordering.
Marble Sculpture
Our sculpture is produced by a unique and proprietary dry casting process. They are made of white Carrara marble and over 90% of the finished sculpture is natural marble which gives it a look and feel of natural marble. They are finished by hand.
