A wonderful Roman sarcophagus bas-relief for sale. This reproduction depicts the carrying of an anonymous Roman war hero, passing, with a singular narrative ressembling the mythological story of Hector the Trojan hero.
This classic sarcophagus bas-relief depicts the famous scene from Greek mythology, of Hectors supporters carrying him, after Priam begged the mighty Achilles for the return of his body. The soldiers wear the Roman military armory and in the background a banner with "SPQR" can be read.
Makes a fine pair if coupled with 'Priam begging Achilles' bas-relief.
