      • A necessary precursor to the invention of the Roman Chariot Bronze Sculpture is the domestication of animals, specifically horses – a major step in the development of civilization. Despite the large impact horse domestication has had in transport and communication, tracing its origins has been challenging.

In the Roman Empire, chariots were not used for warfare, but for chariot racing, especially in circuses, or for triumphal processions, when they could be drawn by as many as ten horses or even by dogs, tigers, or ostriches. There were four divisions, or factiones, of charioteers, distinguished by the colour of their costumes.

Please note there can be slight differences between the color of the item you receive and the pictures on the website due to the handmade nature of the product. The important thing to note is that the patina is not a paint but a very thin conversion coat on the surface of the bronze.
