The Medici & Vacca lions statue, Italian, 1801,in Basalt black.
The first of the marble lions dates back to the 2nd century BC and was owned by the powerful Medici family, Italy.
The Lion guarded the steps to the Villa Medici in Rome.
The second lion was made by Flamingo Vacca in 1590. The pair were then moved to their present location at Loggia Dei Lanzi, Florence, in 1799.
Marble Sculpture
Our sculpture is produced by a unique and proprietary dry casting process. They are made of white Carrara marble and over 90% of the finished sculpture is natural marble which gives it a look and feel of natural marble. They are finished by hand.
