NELSON VISCOUNT HORATIO, a bust, after Joshua Pitts,1853.
Despite losing an eye at Corsica and an arm at Santa Cruz, Nelson had an outstanding naval career.
He destroyed the French fleet at the battle of the Nile and commanded the attack on Copenhagen, before being fatally wounded at Trafalgar.
This bust of Nelson by Pitts was commissioned by Admiral Sir William Parker KGB, from a painting in his collection by Wichell, London 1853.
